sacroiliac joint

Tested for you – blocked sacroiliac joint on the bike

Have you ever ridden your bike with a blocked sacroiliac joint? First you just notice the not so smooth pedalling. But you’re in for a big surprise.

At the beginning of March, while training in Gran Canaria, everything was fine. Unfortunately, a faulty software update in my Garmin Vector pedals forced me to have them taken off the bike and getting them repaired.

That’s when I lost control over my balance on the pedals. I highly appreciate the balance function. I’d like to be able to see when I start avoiding certain pedalling moves because of tired legs. I can only recommend this function. However, during the 3-4 weeks without the Vector pedals it must have happened. When I finally received an exchange new pair of pedals (thanks, dear Garmin), I noticed a dysbalance of 40 : 60 %. The more I put pressure on the left leg, the less it worked, the higher the pain. Frustrating.

I can recommend to visit your local chiropractor immediately after you notice a dysbalance and blocked sacroiliac joint. I waited one month and rode in pain for a long time. Funny how we tend to think that through training (!) things might get better. Well, they didn’t.
